Camden Crawl 2010 announces first acts

Speech Debelle, Speech Therapy

Story by Jack Foley

SPEECH Debelle (pictured), Teenage Fan Club, Cosmo Jarvis, Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip and The Drums are all among the first acts to be announced for this year’s Gaymers Camden Crawl (2010).

Selected each year by a committee of music industry tastemakers comprised of radio DJs, club promoters, journalists and record labels, the 2010 line up is shaping up to be the best yet of the festival’s 15-year history.

As per 2009, MTV will host the 3,000 capacity Roundhouse venue in conjunction with the Gaymers Camden Crawl and exclusively film sets by a series of extra special guests due to be announced in early March.

The festival will set up camp along Camden Town’s two mile stretch of high street to present a legendary programme of hotly tipped live artists, special guests and after show parties across more than twenty venues per night, including the Roundhouse, Koko, Electric Ballroom, Dingwalls, Jazz Café, Dublin Castle and many more from 5pm until the wee hours on both days of the event.

In keeping with Crawl tradition and the spirit of discovery, the full venue line-ups and stage times remain a closely guarded secret until each day and surprise guests may appear at any time and at any venue.

Featuring a live and interactive line up of comedy, spoken word, improv theatre, visual art installations, crafts, magic, games & quizzes, fantasy football, karaoke and, of course, live music, the daytime carnival of entertainment sprawls across more than 20 Camden Town venues for the weekend.

The Crawl schedule of events kicks off from midday on both Saturday and Sunday, May 1 and 2 and runs until 4am both days.

Upon arrival at the festival each ticket holder will be presented with an all-access wristband, programme guide, timetable and free download album to help plot his/her day’s adventure.

‘Crawlers’ will be granted unlimited access to all official daytime, evening venues and clubs/parties capacity permitting.

Weekend tickets for the Gaymers Camden Crawl 2010 are on sale now. For each of these tickets purchased, the Crawl will donate £2 to War Child (registered charity no: 1071659).
