Charlatans announce ninth album, Simpatico

Story by Jack Foley

THE Charlatans have announced that their ninth studio album will be called Simpatico and it will be released in April.

The album has been produced by Jim Lowe, who has previously worked with The Stereophonics, and was recorded at Hook End Manor Studios in Oxfordshire.

The first single is due to be Blackened Blue Eyes on April 3 and it will be followed by the release of Simpatico on April 10.

According to drummer, Jon Brooke, the album will remain true to the established sound of The Charlatans and was recorded with the whole group playing live.

Brooke rates it as their most harmonious effort yet.

Other tracks include New York, For Your Entertainment, When The Lights Go Out In London and Road To Paradise.

There is no news yet as to whether the falsetto style that lead singer, Tim Burgess, has favoured of late will make a return, or whether there will be a UK tour to support it.
