Chris Cornell announces London date

Chris Cornell

Story by Jack Foley

US ROCK legend Chris Cornell has announced his first UK headline show of 2007 at London’s Astoria on May 16, 2007.

The voice of James Bond, Audioslave and Soundgarden, Cornell is preparing to release his eagerly awaited second solo LP Carry On on May 28th.

The album’s first single Arms Around Your Love hits stors a week earlier, on May 21.

Tickets for the Astoria date cost £25 and go on sale from 9am on Thursday, April 5.

Released on Polydor Records and produced by Steve Lillywhite – whose previous credits include U2, Rolling Stones and Morrissey – Carry On follows Chris’ critically acclaimed 1999 solo debut Euphoria Morning.

Featuring delicate acoustics and bristling electric guitars, it’s billed as “a masterclass in rock” and is said to immaculately capture Chris’ exceptional voice, which was once described as “rock’s most elastic instrument”.

Tracks include No Such Thing, Safe and Sound, Scar On The Sky and Arms Around Your Love.

Carry On also includes – for the first time on a full-length release – the Top 3 smash hit Bond theme You Know My Name from Casino Royale.

The first Bond track since 1983’s Octopussy to use a different title to the film, it’s also the first since 1987’s The Living Daylights to have featured a male singer.

This summer, Chris will also be special guest to Aerosmith at London’s Hyde Park Calling Festival on May 24. Find out more
