DAVID Bowie leads the nominees at this year’s Q Awards with six nods.

The 66-year-old made a surprise comeback earlier this year with new album The Next Day and is shortlisted in the best act in the world today category as well as best solo artist. The LP will also be vying for best album.

Other multiple nominees include Foals, Daft Punk and Arctic Monkeys, who are all named in three categories.

Foals nominations include Best act in the world today and best album (for Holy Fire), Daft Punk are in the running for best track (Get Lucky) and best album (Random Access Memories) and best video.

And Arctic Monkeys are also in the running for best track (Do I Wanna Know?), Best Act In The World Today and Best Live Act.

Ellie Goulding is up for best solo act and best track with her number one single Burn.

Among those competing for best new act are Disclosure, Palma Violets, Laura Mvula, TOY, Tom Odell and Jake Bugg, while a new category – best event – will see Bowie’s exhibition at the V&A Museum competing against Glastonbury, Latitude, The Rolling Stones and Kraftwerk.

Talking about the nominations for this year’s ceremony, Q Senior Editor Matt Mason said: “It’s been another unforgettable year for music, and the nominations reflect the breadth and brilliance of artists from the UK and beyond.

“All the Q Awards nominees have helped ensure that 2013 has been an incredible year for music.”
