Download 2009: Faith No More to headline

Faith No More

Story by Jack Foley

FOLLOWING a wealth of rumours and speculation, Faith No More confirmed last week that they would be reuniting, 11 years after they famously called it a day in April 1998.

Now the band are confirmed to play at this year’s Download Festival, an appearance that will mark the band’s only UK date this year.

A favourite of Metallica and Guns ‘N’ Roses, Faith No More are largely responsible for the rap/rock crossover blueprint and for influencing many of the nu-metal bands of the 90s, including Linkin Park, Korn and Limp Bizkit, with the latter two will also playing this year’s Download.

Faith No More’s appearance at Download 2009 will mark their first shows in 11 years and their first ever Donington appearance.

Joining Faith No More as co-headliners at this year’s Download over the weekend of June 12 to 14 will be Slipknot and Def Leppard, as well as Billy Talent, Dream Theater, The Blackout, Buckcherry and rock stars of the silver screen Anvil, with many more names to be confirmed between now and June!
