Download Festival 2007: Iron Maiden and Linkin Park to headline

Iron Maiden

Story by Jack Foley

IRON Maiden, Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance have been confirmed as the headline acts for the 2007 Download rock festival.

My Chemical Romance will headline the opening night on June 8, while Linkin Park will bring the bill to a close on June 9. Iron Maiden will close the last night on June 10.

The band’s frontman Bruce Dickinson said it was “a special place for Maiden”, who played to more than 100,000 people in 1988.

The singer added that the set list would be a mix of classic songs as well as tracks from their last album. But the play list is evisaged as “a thank you to our fans”.

Chester Bennington, lead singer of US rockers Linkin Park, told the BBC: “UK fans are some of the best in the world and we can’t wait to see you.”

The organisers of this year’s Download Festival, which takes place at Donington Park, Leicestershire, are seeking to make this year’s event one of the UK’s most environmentally-friendly festivals. Initiatives already include car-sharing and recycling.

Further acts will be announced in due course.

  1. The Download festival seems to be great as usual, with great artist. Linkin Park and MCR are good bands, but I think that most of the fans will come to see the legends, Iron Maiden.P laying with more than 100,000 people in 1988 must have been wondeful and I hope that this year, it would be the same again. Iron Maiden can be considered nowadays as one of the best heavy metal bands of all time..
