Dropkick Murphys announce new LP and January 2013 UK dates
Story by Jack Foley
BOSTON-based band Dropkick Murphys have announced the official January 7, 2013 release of their forthcoming album, SIGNED and SEALED in BLOOD, as well as a selection of UK tour dates.
The LP is released via the band’s long-running label, Born and Bred Record via CoOperative Music and is their second with producer Ted Hutt (Gaslight Anthem).
It was recorded at Boston’s Q Division studios and mixed by Joe Chiccarelli (The White Stripes).
Bassist and co-lead singer Ken Casey commented on the LP: “We had such a great time writing our last album, Going Out In Style and we were excited to get back into the studio right away. Where Going Out in Style was a concept album – kind of intricate and difficult – this one is catchy, fun, and is gonna damage a lot of speakers.”
SIGNED and SEALED in BLOOD also features the banjo playing of Winston Marshall from Mumford & Sons on Prisoner’s Song, a collaboration that came about after Dropkick Murphys played Mumford’s Gentlemen of the Road festival in Maine this year.
In addition to the album, Dropkick Murphys will also play a UK tour and a handful of European dates kicking off in Dublin on January 12, 2013.
The UK tour dates are (all January 2013):
12 & 13 – Dublin, Ireland – Vicar Street
15 – Manchester, HMV Ritz
16 – Glasgow, Barrowland
17 – Nottingham, Rock City
18 & 19 – London, HMV Forum
