Elvis Forever

Story by Jack Foley

THE line-up for BBC Radio 2’s Elvis Presley tribute concert, Elvis Forever, has been confirmed with acts including Scouting For Girls, Imelda May, Craig David and Fran Healy (of Travis) taking part in the star-studded event in London’s Hyde Park.

The concert has been put on to mark the year that the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll would have turned 75 and it calls together some great names from the world of pop and rock to perform ‘The King’s best loved and most popular songs.

The event takes place on Sunday, September 12, 2010, from 6.30pm (doors, 5pm) and is hosted by Radio 2 breakfast show presenter Chris Evans with a special appearance by Priscilla Presley.

The proceedings will culminate in a spectacular firework finale.

The line-up is comprised of Scouting For Girls, Imelda May, The Magnets, Fran Healy (from Travis), Craig David, Tony Hadley, Marti Pellow, Nell Bryden and Suzi Quatro.

Tickets, costing £30 (under-3s free), can be bought in person from the Royal Albert Hall Box Office, or regular ticket outlets.

Commenting when the idea of the gig was first announced, Chris Evans said: “As the Radio 2 audience knows, I am a huge Elvis fan and it’s an honour to host such a celebration of the enduring appeal of his music.”
