Emily And The Woods announce June tour (2013)
Story by Jack Foley
LONDON based four piece Emily and The Woods will embark on a Summer tour this June.
With support from Sam Brookes and Anwyn Williams, the band will play five consecutive dates, starting in York on June 17. The dates follow the band’s well received April tour and recent support slots for King Charles.
Emily and The Woods comprise of London born singer-songwriter, Emily Wood, guitarist (and brother) Benedict Wood, drummer Dave Bush and bass player Sam Brown.
Growing up with a musical father and listening to the likes of Joni Mitchell, Simon and Garfunkel and Bill Withers, Emily and her brother were always encouraged to perform.
However, it wasn’t until Emily was 17 that she picked up a guitar and was able to start putting music to songs she had been writing. Emily has since leant her vocal talents to the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club and Lucy Rose.
Hailed as Glastonbury’s ‘Pick of The Day’ in 2011, the band has since supported the likes of Ben Howard, Ed Sheeran, Newton Faulkner and Marcus Foster.
More recently, 2012 saw Steal His Heart reach over 2 million views on Youtube and It Was Right There discovered by Radio 1’s Annie Mac. The band’s most recent release, Small Song, was recorded at home by Emily and her dad and received radio support across Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music.
Having previously released two, four track EPs, Emily and The Woods return this year with a series of new songs, due for release later this Summer.
The June tour dates are:
17 – The Duchess York
18 – Cockpit 3 Leeds
19 – The Hop Wakefield
20 – The Shakespeare Sheffield
21 – Rescue Rooms Nottingham
