Fatboy Slim to play Brixton Academy in December (2014)
Story by Jack Foley
THE first time Fatboy Slim played Brixton Academy, he brazenly installed a full-size rotating boxing ring for the infamous A Date With Destiny night, a historic DJ battle with his Stateside counterpart Armand Van Helden.
The Academy itself is somewhat the ‘Rave’ icon, the first venue to be granted a 6am license in the UK, crowning it the birth place of legal ‘All Nighter’s’. This kind of significance is never lost on Fatboy Slim, who returned to Brixton in 2005 with his Palookavision tour, this time replacing a boxing ring with a monster 3D Video wall.
Now in 2014 Fatboy’s penchant for delivering the unexpected rages on, be it a secret gig at Glastonbury or giant stadium in Rio, Norman’s servitude to the spirit of Acid House alongside good ‘new fashioned’ entertainment is in higher demand than ever.
So on December 20, 2014, Fatboy returns to Brixton once again, this time bringing along the talents of DJ Fresh and Slam Dunk’d.
The gig runs from 8pm to 2am and tickets cost £28.50 plus booking fee. They go on sale at 9am on Friday, August 29, 2014.
