Fightstar to play Oxjam Lowlife show in London

Story by Jack Foley

FIGHTSTAR have teamed up with Oxjam and Lowlife for a special one–off show to celebrate the release of their new single Floods at Madame JoJo’s in London’s Soho.

The intimate performance for a lucky few will take place on March 3, 2008 [the same day the single is released]. The event will also mark the launch of Lowlife’s amazing new SS08 clothing range, with all proceeds going to Oxjam.

Floods features on Fightstar’s second album, One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours, which they recorded in LA with producer Matt Wallace (Faith No More).

The band wrote the song after seeing Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth.

Charlie Simpson explains: “Like most people I was blissfully unaware of how bad things had become, and I realized that we should all be facing responsibility for the way we behave. It really inspired the whole record, how we treat our planet and our society now, is going to have repercussions in 50 years time.”

Joining Fightstar on the night will be two more top acts to be confirmed. In addition, there is a competition being run by Kerrang and Lowlife for an unsigned band to win the opening slot on the night.

There will also be an unmissable aftershow party during which the band and Lowlife will be teaming up with Gallows, who are coming down after their gig at the 100 club. Expect a few surprises and band members spinning some of their favourite tunes.

Oxjam is about raising money for Oxfam to tackle poverty all over the world. Supporting Oxjam helps people to earn a living, to get an education, health care, fresh water and to grow more food.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, February 8.
