Florence & The Machine lead Mojo nominees (2010)

Florence & The Machine

Story by Jack Foley

FLORENCE & The Machine has emerged as the clear favourite at this year’s Mojo Honours List awards after securing four nominations.

Florence Welch is up for breakthrough act, best album (for Lungs), best live act and song of the year, for You’ve Got The Love.

However, she faces tough competition from the likes of Kasabian, who have three nominations, and Arctic Monkeys and Richard Hawley (both of whom have two).

Kasabian are also in the running for best live act, song of the year for Fire and best album for West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum.

While both Arctic Monkeys and Richard Hawley are nominated for best song, for Crying Lightning and Open Up Your Door respectively, as well as best live act (for Arctic Monkeys) and best album, for Hawley’s sixth solo effort, Truelove’s Gutter.

Joanna Newsom and Paul Weller are also up for best album.

And Mumford & Sons, The Jim Jones Revue, John Grant and The Low Anthem join Florence and the Machine on the breakthrough shortlist.
