Flowered Up announce first UK dates in 14 years

Flowered Up

Story by Jack Foley

FLOWERED Up return for five very special shows in October – their first UK tour in 14 years.

After famously imploding in 1993 due to drink and drug abuse, lead singer Liam and drummer John decided there was ‘unfinished business’ in the Flowered Up camp and wanted to recapture the early madness, but sober this time so they could remember it.

The band played a couple of shows in 2005 including Loaded in the Park with the Happy Mondays, but this will be their first dates outside the capital since they split.

Original members Liam Maher (vocals), Joe Maher (guitars), John Tuvey (drums) Simon Gannon (keyboards) are joined by new boy George Den (bass).

The October dates will be a chance for youngsters to see what all the fuss was about, especially since their seminal hit Weekender continues to be requested and played by the indie/baggy fraternity.

The dates are (all October):

22 – Brighton Concorde 2
24 – Glasgow King Tuts
25 – Manchester Club Academy
26 – Birmingham Academy 2
30 – Islington Academy London

Tickets go on sale Monday, July 30 priced £14 (except London, £16).
