Franz Ferdinand announce early 2009 tour

Franz Ferdinand

Story by Jack Foley

FRANZ Ferdinand will be hitting the comeback trail with a new UK tour in 2009 in support of their new album, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand.

The band will play a total of six dates in February and March, opening with a show at Limerick’s Dolans and concluding with a night at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.

They have already played several of the new tracks live, including forthcoming comeback single Ulysses, but are keen to enable fans to hear the new material at the earliest opportunity after the LP’s release on January 26.

The new shows come in addition to Franz Ferdinand’s one-off, sold out Shockwaves NME Awards Show at London’s Heaven on January 20.

The tour dates are (all 2009):

28 – Limerick, Dolans

1 – Dublin, Olympia
4 – Glasgow, Barrowlands
6 – Manchester, Academy
8 – Birmingham, Academy
9 – London, Hammersmith Apollo

Tickets go on sale on Friday, December 12, at 9.30am.
