Get Loaded in the Park 2007: The Streets to headline

The Streets, Mike Skinner

Story by Jack Foley

LONDON’S indie-dance festival Get Loaded in the Park swaggers back into town on Bank Holiday Sunday, August 26, 2007 for a fourth rock ‘n’ roll year of live music, DJs and festival fun on Clapham Common.

Headlining this summer’s event is The Streets, aka local lad Mike Skinner, who famously invited the Happy Mondays round to a BBQ before their slot at 2004’s Get Loaded festival.

Skinner is, of course, the witty and original MC behind the beats and rhymes of The Streets.

Main stage support goes to indie-rockers Dirty Pretty Things.

Pete Doherty got loaded last summer and now it’s the turn of his former Libertines bandmate Carl Barat to rock the Common!

2006 was a massive year for Dirty Pretty Things, as they released the critically acclaimed album Waterloo to Anywhere and graced the stages of pretty much every major festival around the globe (bar Get Loaded of course!).

London’s leading indie/rock station Xfm will also be the official host of this year’s Get Loaded Bands Tent, with Myspace.com looking after business over at the Dance Arena.

The Xfm Stage will be headlined by the Mercury Award winning rapper Dizzee Rascal whose third album Maths and English is set to drop later this year.
