Gomez announce winter tour (2006)

Story by Jack Foley

ON THE eve of their 10th anniversary and hot on the heels of their triumphant appearance at V Festival, Gomez have announced an 11-date UK tour this winter, including a performance at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.

Currently wowing crowds in sold-out venues across Australia, they begin their American tour in California on September 10, which closes with Las Vegas’ Vegoose festival with The Killers and Tom Petty.

Featuring very special guest Josh Ritter on all British shows, the full list of dates is (all November):

16 – Whitehaven, Civic Hall
17 – Preston, 53 Degrees
18 – Glasgow, Barrowlands
20 – Oxford, Brooks University
21 – Birmingham, Academy
23 London, Hammersmith Apollo
24- Cambridge, Junction
25 – Keele, University
26 – Brighton, Old Market
28 – Dublin, Ambassador (special guests TBA)
29 – Belfast, Mandella Hall (special guests TBA)

Tickets are now available from all usual vendors.

In addition to rounding off the year with more tour dates, Gomez will be releasing See The World, the remarkable second single to be taken from new album How We Operate, on September 4.

Incessantly catchy, relentlessly melodic and distinctly summery, it brims with an effortless appeal.

Available on two 7” vinyls, it boasts two exclusive tracks: Little Lucifer Love – written, produced and mixed by the band – and a blinding reinterpretation of the Rolling Stones’ track I’m Free.

How We Operate has already shipped 70,000 copies stateside, debuting at Number 1 on the New Artist chart and becoming the Number 1 album at non-commercial radio.

Similarly, the single of the same name has become the band’s first US Top Ten single, reaching Number 8.

For US fans of Gomez, the band will perform live on the Jay Leno Show on September 22, plus the Tonight with Conan O’Brien Show, on October 17, before playing three nights at New York’s Bowery Ballroom.
