Green Day announce Emirates Stadium gig (2013)
Story by Jack Foley
FRESH from a rush of activity that has seen them play a surprise set at Reading, a triumphant intimate show at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, and the release of the single Kill The DJ, Green Day have now confirmed details of their first London stadium show in the capital since their famous Wembley Stadium show in the summer of 2010.
Green Day will headline the Emirates Stadium on June 1, 2013.
Tickets will go on sale from 9.30am on Friday, September 28.
In addition, September 24 will see the release of Green Day’s new album ¡Uno! which is the first in a trilogy of albums which will be completed by ¡Dos! (released on November 12) and ¡Tré! (January 14, 2013).
The three albums are also available as an Ultimate Box Set which is currently available to pre-order.
The trilogy of albums are the follow-up to the Grammy Award-winning 21st Century Breakdown and are being produced by the band’s long-time producer Rob Cavallo in Green Day’s hometown of Oakland, CA.
Green Day commented in a combined statement: “We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives. This is the best music we’ve ever written and the songs just keep coming.
“Instead of making one album, we are making a three album trilogy. Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels. We just can’t help ourselves… We are going epic as fuck!”
