Green Day announce February 2017 UK Arena tour

Green Day

Story by Jack Foley

AS the October 7, 2016, release of their eagerly anticipated new album Revolution Radio approaches, Green Day have announced details of a new UK arena tour.

The tour represents their first shows in this country since they headlined the Reading and Leeds Festivals in the summer of 2013. They include a night at London’s O2 Arena on February 8, 2017.

Tickets go on sale from 9am on Friday, September 9. Green Day will be joined by special guests The Interrupters.

Green Day will play the following dates (all February 2017):

5 – Leeds, First Direct Arena
6 – Manchester, Arena
8 – London, The O2

Produced by Green Day and recorded in Oakland, Revolution Radio is described as a potent 12-track blitz of angst-ridden anthems that unites Green Day’s fully formed stylistic approach with lyrical themes that address the complexities and uncertainties of modern day existence.

Musically, the album is raw, visceral, and fearless – solidifying the band’s reign as one of the leading voices in rock music.

“Of course, the world has lost its collective mind… and me, Mike and Tré are lost souls too,” said Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. “Revolution Radio is a movement for lost souls to come together, dance together, sing together, and most of all, find each other. That’s what the spirit of Green Day has been about since day one.”

Revolution Radio is now available to pre-order on CD, vinyl and digital formats. Those who pre-order the album will receive an instant download of the new single Bang Bang. Inspired by recent events, Bang Bang marks a welcome return from a band with more to say than ever.
