Guillemots join End of the Road Festival (2006)

End of the Road Festival

Story by Jack Foley

THE Guillemots are the latest band to confirm their appearance at The End of the Road Festival in September, joining the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, British Sea Power and Electric Soft Parade.

The End of the Road is an intimate music festival for about 5,000 people, taking place between September 15 and 17 at the beautiful Larmer Tree Gardens on the borders of Wiltshire and Dorset.

The Larmer Tree Gardens is about 2.5-3 hours drive from London, and is located near Shaftesbury (fairly close to Stonehenge and Salisbury).

The organisers of the event pride themselves in their ability to take lots of interest in all the “little things” that make a great festival, such as good food (organic/local/fair trade), good beer, recycling/environmental care, lots of toilets, caring and well-mannered staff, etc.

Apart from all the amazing bands, making an appearance is also the lovely Somerset Cider Bus, which is usually one of the highlights at the Glastonbury Festival.

Quality beers such as Leffe, Hoegarden, Heineken Import, Guinness, Amstel will also be available along with a selection of real ales and spirits.

As one of the festival organisers is Swedish, there will also be a Scandinavian feel with a showcase of up and coming Nordic talent. There will also be Swedish snacks and other Scandinavian treats such as playing the old Viking game, Kubb.

Tickets for the weekend are £95 (including camping) and can be purchased through the website.
