Happy Mondays announce reunion dates with Inspiral Carpets

Happy Mondays

Story by Jack Foley

BEZ, Gary Whelan, Mark Day, Paul Davies, Paul Ryder, Rowetta and Shaun Ryder – the original line up of Happy Mondays – are back together for the first time in over 19 years and will embark on an 11-date UK tour in May, including a massive show at Manchester Arena.

The band will be joined for the gigs by Inspiral Carpets, themselves among the leading lights of the Madchester scene.

Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder commented: “We all met up last week and some of the lads haven’t seen each other in over 10, 15 years. It’s as if we’ve never been apart – so good to all be in the same room again. We can’t wait now to get on tour and play the songs that made us famous.’

Expect to hear songs Step On, Kinky Afro, Hallelujah, 24 Hour Party People and many, many more.

The tour also includes two nights at London’s Brixton Academy.

The tour dates are (all May 2012):

3 – Newcastle O2 Academy
4 – Glasgow O2 Academy
5 – Manchester Arena
6 – Sheffield O2 Academy
9 – Bournemouth O2 Academy
10 & 11 – London O2 Academy Brixton
12 – Birmingham O2 Academy
15 – Dublin Olympia
17 – Leeds O2 Academy
18 – Nottingham Rock City

Tickets are on sale from Friday, February 3 at 10am.
