Hard Rock Calling 208: Clapton and The Police to headline

Complete Clapton

Story by Jack Foley

ERIC Clapton and The Police will headline this year’s Hard Rock Calling gigs in London’s Hyde Park in June 2008.

The concerts, now in their third year, take place on June 28 and 29 and will find guitar legend Clapton – aka Slowhand – headlining on the Saturday and reformed rockers The Police taking centre stage on the Sunday.

Clapton will be joined by special guests Sheryl Crow and John Mayer, with more acts to be announced shortly.

And The Police will be supported by guests including KT Tunstall and Starsailor, again with more acts to be added to the bill.

Hard Rock Calling is produced by Live Nation and presented by Hard Rock Cafe as part of a unique musical event that boasts a main stage, a second stage and many surprises in store for music and festival fans of all ages.

Toby Leighton-Pope, Live Nation’s VP Promotions, commented: “We are very excited about this year’s Hard Rock Calling event as we have two amazing headline acts, following on the tradition from the past two years which saw Roger Waters and The Who and Peter Gabriel and Aerosmith perform.

“This year’s headliners will be complemented by a stellar line up of special guests over the two days and two stages.”

Tickets for Hard Rock Calling 2008 go on pre-sale to Live Nation members on Tuesday, January 29 – three days before they go on sale to the general public on Friday, February 1 at 9am.

Tickets cost £50 for Saturday and £65 for Sunday, while a weekend ticket is also available for £110 – but these have limited availability. Buy tickets now
