Story by Jack Foley

ROBBIE Williams is to join rapper/soul crooner Plan B, James Blunt and Alexandra Burke at a benefit concert for servicemen and women at Twickenham Stadium in September.

The concert, which takes place on September 12, 2010, will also feature comic talent such as Bruce Forsyth, Jack Dee, Michael McIntyre and Jason Manford.

The event, which will be screened on the BBC, will be attended by around 60,000 fans and troops, with all proceeds going to the Help For Heroes charity, which raises funds for wounded service personnel and their families.

The line-up further includes musical performances by Pixie Lott and The Saturdays, as well as comic performances from John Bishop and Kevin Bridges.

Commenting on his appearance, Williams – who recently announced his return to Take That – said he was “honoured” to have been asked to contribute and went on to pay tribute to UK service personnel who are still engaged in Afghanistan.

“Their dedication to our country is phenomenal and we are all so proud of them,” he said.

Bryn Parry, head of the Help For Heroes charity, said: “Our boys and girls, both those operating in the remote patrol bases and those recovering from life changing injuries, will hear this concert and know that they are in the forefront of our minds.

“They are not forgotten, wherever they are.”

Tickets for the concert are due to go on general sale at 9am on Wednesday, August 4, 2010.
