Il Divo announce 2009 world tour

FOLLOWING the release of their new album The Promise, Il Divo have announced details of a 2009 world tour.

Beginning at Manchester’s MEN Arena on February 21, the world’s most successful operatic quartet (over 22 million albums sold) will visit 22 European cities, including nine UK arena dates, followed by a three month North American tour, before heading to South America, Australia and Asia later in the year.

Included in the Uk dates is a night at London’s O2 Arena on Friday February 27, 2009.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday, November 14, 2008 and are available from all the usual outlets.

Out now on Syco music, The Promise includes Il Divo’s reinterpretations of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s Power Of Love and ABBA’s The Winner Takes It All.

Since coming together in 2004, Il Divo – David Miller, Carlos Marín, Urs Buhler & Sébastien Izambard – have sold out two world tours, performing to over 1.5million fans in 30 countries.

The new show will be staged and choreographed by William Baker (Kylie, Jamiroquai) on a state-of-the-art set, which also offers fans the chance to sit within the staging for a unique concert experience.

The show will feature repertoire from their five albums and some new songs, with Il Divo onstage the entire evening. They will perform for approximately 90mins with a 20min intermission integrated into the set (there will be no support).
