Inspiral Carpets announce 2008 tour

Inspiral Carpets

Story by Jack Foley

FOLLOWING a sold out tour last March, Madchester heroes The Inspiral Carpets have just announced some dates for 2008.

The band will play a total of eight venues, beginning at Glasgow’s ABC on March 7 and concluding at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Saturday, March 15.

The Inspiral Carpets’ music and spirit epitomised the creativity of the early 90’s, and together with the Happy Mondays and The Stone Roses brought psychedelic indie-guitar “Madchester” kicking and screaming into the mainstream.

The Inspiral’s achieved huge success between 1989 and 1994, earning 13 Top 40 singles with the likes of Joe, Dragging Me Down, Saturn 5, This Is How It Feels and She Comes In The Fall.

They also had four Top 20 albums, including Life (1990), The Beast Inside (1991), Revenge Of The Goldfish (1992) and Devil Hopping (1994).

Tickets for the new shows go on sale on Friday, September 28, at 9am. The London show costs £20.

9 – Sheffield Leadmill
10 – Northants Roadmender
12 – Frome Cheese and Grain
13 – Notts Rescue Rooms
