KT Tunstall

Story by Jack Foley

AS TICKETS went on sale today (December 10, 2007) for the Isle of Wight Festival 2008, organisers have announced some new additions to the bill.

Lily Allen, The Enemy, James, Kate Nash, Iggy and The Stooges, The Zutons and KT Tunstall (pictured) will all take to the stage during the three-day event from June 13 to 15.

They will join a line-up that already includes Kaiser Chiefs, Sex Pistols and The Police as the three headliners.

Of the new acts announced, Coventry-based trio The Enemy are one of the new bands to have made their mark on the music scene this year, with the release of their debut album We’ll
Live and Die in These Towns
, which went straight to the No.1 spot.

The ‘Best New Act’ Q Award winners recently supported The Rolling Stones and 2008 will see them follow in their footsteps as one of the potential highlights of the Isle of Wight Festival.

On the other end of the scale, meanwhile, hugely influential punk rockers Iggy and The Stooges are almost guaranteed to be able to whip 2008’s crowd into a frenzy, with their notorious wild onstage antics as they perform a special set, including classic tracks that earned them their legendary status.

Commenting on their appearance, Iggy Popp said: “We’re proud to follow in the footsteps of The Doors and Hendrix – god bless the Isle of Wight!’

The Isle of Wight Festival takes place from June 13 – 15 at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight. Tickets are now on sale.
