AMY Winehouse heads the nominations for this year’s Ivor Novello songwriting awards, having secured a total of three nominations for 2008.

Tracks Love Is A Losing Game and You Know I’m No Good have been shortlisted in the best song this year category, while Rehab, which picked up the award for best contemporary song last year, is in the running for the best selling British song prize.

The awards, which honour British music publishers, songwriters and composers, will be announced on May 22 in London.

However, Winehouse will face competition from Mika’s Grace Kelly and Beyonce and Shakira’s duet Beautiful Liar in the best-selling British song category, and from Ben’s Brother’s Let Me Out in the best song musically and lyrically award.

In the best contemporary song prize, Brit award winner Kate Nash will be viewed as the early favourite for her song Foundations, but is competing against Klaxons’ Golden Skans and Cherry Ghost’s People Help The People.

And Radiohead are up against Stephen Fretwell and Cherry Ghost in the best album award, for their latest album, In Rainbows.

The Ivor Novello awards also recognise musical achievement in film and television and Oscar-winners Atonement and La Vie En Rose are in the running for best original film score, along with Becoming Jane.

While the best television soundtrack category will be competed by Oliver Twist, Primo and Who Killed Mrs de Ropp?.
