Ivor Novello Awards 2013: Emeli Sande and Plan B land double nominations

DOUBLE Brit winner Emeli Sande and rapper Plan B – aka Ben Drew – have both landed two nominations each at the 2013 Ivor Novello Awards.

Sande, 26, saw her track Next To Me shortlisted for the best song musically and lyrically and is also up for the most performed work prize, while Plan B ‘s Ill Manors is up for best contemporary song and the soundtrack from which that song is taken is nominated for best original film score.

Mercury Prize winners Alt-J are also in the running for two prizes: for the contemporary song prize, for their track Fitzpleasure, and for their debut LP An Awesome Wave, which is shortlisted for best album.

Other LPs in contention for the top prize are Ben Howard’s Every Kingdom and Lianne La Havas’s Is Your Love Big Enough?

While Sande’s competition in the best song category comes from Bat for Lashes’ Laura and Jake Bugg’s Two Fingers.

The 58th annual Ivor Novello awards will take place at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on Thursday, May 16.
