Jake Bugg and Laura Marling for Virgin Records anniversary gigs in London

JAKE Bugg and Laura Marling are among the artists announced to play a series of special, celebratory gigs to mark the 40th anniversary of Virgin Records.
They will be joined by the likes of Bastille, Boy George, Simple Minds, Emeli Sandé and Chvrches at Virgin’s ‘live celebrations of 40 years of disruptions’ series, which runs from October 3 to November 12 at various London venues.
Some of the gigs had already been announced but tickets for the dates – including Emeli Sandé, Bastille, Simple Minds, Martyn Ware and Jazzie B – will be available from 9am on Friday, August 16 at www.virgin40.com.
Virgin Records was founded by Richard Branson in 1973 and has seen some of the biggest names in music on its rosta over the years, including Genesis, Keith Richards, Janet Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, The Smashing Pumpkins, Mike Oldfield, Simple Minds and Spice Girls.
Virgin Records is currently owned by Universal Music Group after its purchase of EMI in 2012.
