JLS find themselves Proud to support BBC Sport Relief

Story by Jack Foley

JLS are to release this year’s single for the BBC’s Sport Relief.

The song, called Proud, has been written and recorded by the group and will be available as a download from March 18 before then going on sale in shops the following day.

JLS will also perform a special one-off concert for Sport Relief at London’s O2 Arena on March 24, 2012.

BBC Sport Relief encourages the nation to raise money for charity by getting active.

This year, more than one million people are expected to take part in the Sport Relief Mile, which is seeking to raise money for vulnerable people across the UK as well as the world’s poorest countries.

Celebrities including Olly Murs, Lorraine Kelly, Kara Tointon and James Cracknell will be among those taking part in sponsored running events across the UK.

Little Britain star David Walliams has already raised more than £1 million for this year’s fundraising effort, following his 140-mile swim along the River Thames last year.

And Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton is currently undertaking a 500-mile trek to the South Pole – skiing, cycling and kite-skiing for up to 14 hours a day.

Claudia Winkleman, Fearne Cotton and Gary Lineker will host a live television show on March 23 on BBC One.
