Kaiser Chiefs unite with Lily Allen for new single

Kaiser Chiefs

Story by Jack Foley

KAISER Chiefs have teamed up with Lily Allen and New Young Pony Club for their new single, Never Miss a Beat, the first track to be lifted from the band’s third album Off With Their Heads.

The single promises to find the band emerging from the obvious ‘pop’ sensibility of their catalogue, as it enters the fray under a barrage of guitar squall backed with a keyboard led refrain and a sound that veers away from previous outings.

Having decided that they were going to release and EP in the autumn of this year, Kaiser Chiefs retired to the rehearsal room, only to emerge weeks later with a batch of songs they had chosen to record.

It was only once they had started to record the tracks that they then realised that perhaps it maybe an idea to scupper the EP and do an album’s worth instead….

The band consequently hooked up with Mark Ronson and worked on the new songs both up in Leeds and down in London. Several of the tracks they had planned for the album including Never Miss A Beat had been played live since the band’s sold out UK Arena tour last Winter.

Never Miss A Beat, featuring Lily Allen and New York Pony Club on backing vocals, is released on October 6 and available on CD b/w and 7” vinyl b/w through B-Unique / Polydor. The album Off With Their Heads is released a week later on October 13, 2008.
