Keane and Oceansize offer free Christmas downloads

Keane

Story by Jack Foley

AS A Christmas present to their legions of fans Keane have made an acoustic version of Gwen Stefani’s Early Winter (which Tim Rice-Oxley wrote) available as a free download for a limited time only.

All fans need to do to gain access to the download is to click on day 21 of the Keane advent calendar at their official site

Alternatively, why not try a Christmas song with a difference from the post-rock minds of Oceansize.

As a thank you to all their fans, the band are giving away a free mp3 download of their cover of the Aled Jones classic Walking In The Air on their Myspace page.

Explains Oceansize’s Mike Vennart: “We decided to record this tune years ago… but never got round to it. We played it at a Christmas party in Manchester back in 1999 and have been threatening to record it ever since.

“It’s one of the darker festive tunes and, of course, we’re pretty well versed in that side of music! It’s a pretty long version at about seven minutes, but it’s such a lovely tune that it deserves beefing up a bit.

“It’s gotta be the loudest Christmas single ever, a real ‘everything plus the kitchen sink’ arrangement. This is certainly one to play your Gran just as she’s trying to sleep off the Christmas pudding and the pints of gin.”

You can download the track from their Myspace page
