Keane announce UK club tour (2010)

Story by Jack Foley

AFTER selling out their entire six-date June 2010 forest tour, Keane have announced plans to intersperse those dates with shows at club venues in London, Birmingham, Glasgow and Dublin.

Explains Keane’s Tim Rice-Oxley: “The forest shows we’re playing in June will be big, glorious singalongs, but we wanted to play some more sweaty and intimate gigs along the way.”

He added: “We figured out the other day that we haven’t played in Birmingham since February 2007. Birmingham was one of the first cities to really embrace Keane – in fact, we think it was the scene of our first sold out show – so it’s about time we got back there.”

Tickets for the new shows will go on sale at 9.30am on Wednesday, April 14, via Keane’s official website,

The full June tour is now as follows:

10 – Thetford Forest, Suffolk sold out
11 – Bedgebury Pinetum, Kent sold out
15 – The Roundhouse, London
16 – Academy, Birmingham
18 – Westonbirt Arboretum, Gloucestershire sold out
19 – Sherwood Pines Forest, Nottinghamshire sold out
21 – Barrowlands, Glasgow
23 – Olympia, Dublin
25 – Dalby Forest, North Yorkshire sold out
26 – Cannock Chase Forest, Staffordshire sold out

The tour will begin exactly one month after the May 10 release of Keane’s new 8-track EP, Night Train, which was recorded in various studios during the Perfect Symmetry world tour that saw the band playing to packed arenas in 28 countries.

Highlights include Keane’s genre-busting collaborations with Somali/Canadian rapper K’Naan, Stop For A Minute and Looking Back.
