Kerrang! Awards 2015: Muse and Royal Blood among nominees

Muse

Story by Jack Foley

MUSE and Royal Blood are among the nominees for this year’s Relentless Kerrang! Awards 2015.

Muse are nominated for Best British Band after their spontaneous live return this year caused a huge commotion, giving just one week’s notice for their intimate live dates, while Royal Blood – whose Number One self-titled album was verified as the fastest-selling British rock debut album in the UK in three years – are nominated for Best British Newcomer.

Competing against Muse for best band are past winners You Me At Six as well as Architects, Bring Me The Horizon and Enter Shikari.

While hoping to steal a march on Royal Blood for best newcomers are Moose Blood, As It Is, Fort Hope and Ashestoangels.

Never to be outdone by new talent, rock veterans AC/DC are out in force with their nomination for Best International Act, alongside Slipknot, Fall Out Boy, All Time Low and Sleeping With Sirens.

While UK albums chart-toppers All Time Low have racked up an impressive four nominations, including Best Single, Best International Band, Best Fanbase and Best Event (which they share with UK pop-rockers You Me At Six for their joint arena tour earlier this year).

It’s a transatlantic showdown for Best Single, with US acts outnumbered by British talent.

Sheffield’s metal heroes Bring Me The Horizon are nominated alongside Enter Shikari and Young Guns – who have been busy taking the US by storm. In the American corner, are chart-stormers Fall Out Boy alongside their younger peers All Time Low.

Voting for this year’s awards starts in this week’s Kerrang! magazine and on the website, Awards.kerrang.com. Voting closes on Thursday, June 4.

London’s iconic Troxy will play host to the awards ceremony itself on Thursday, June 11, 2015 and will be hosted by Andrew W.K. and Skindred’s Benji Webbe.
