Kerrang! Relentless Energy Drink Tour 2009 - Line-up unveiled

Kerrang! Relentless

Story by Jack Foley

THE Kerrang! Relentless Energy Drink Tour 2009 returns in January with a total of 15 shows hitting cities across the UK and Ireland with the best of this year’s – and next’s – rock talent!

Kicking off at the Belfast Mandela Hall on January 13, the tour will then rock its way through Dublin and the UK, ending up at Brixton Academy on January 30.

Tickets for all shows are just £15 (that’s £3.75 per band) and go on pre-sale on Thursday, October 23, from 9am, and on general sale on Friday, October 24 from 9am.

Headlining the tour is Mindless Self Indulgence, who return to the UK following a sold out tour earlier this year. One of the biggest bands in America, they’ve topped Billboard Singles and MySpace charts alike. Since 1997, this NY-based co-ed electronic/punk rock band has been storming the electronic and punk scenes sweeping up many hardcore fans in its wake with its music and incendiary live performances.

Bring Me the Horizon are five young British lads with a penchant for the heavy. They released their sophomore album, Suicide Season in September, which enjoyed widespread success.

Black Tide exploded on the scene in August with their anthem Shout. The Miami quartet are the youngest band on the tour, with vocalist Gabriel a mere 14-years-old – and this three bandmates all under 20. But don’t let their youth put you off, as their sound is huge.

In Case of Fire, meanwhile, are currently on tour with Funeral for a Friend and have announce a headlining tour before joining the Kerrang! Relentless Energy Drink Tour in January.

Commenting on the 2009 line-up, Kerrang! Editor Paul Brannigan said: “The 2009 Kerrang! Relentless Energy Drink Tour will be the perfect way to blow away the January blues. It’s the most diverse, exciting bill we’ve had for the K! Tour yet and it’ll kickstart what promises to be a landmark year for all four acts. Bring it on!”
