Kid Rock announces Hammersmith date (2008)

Kid Rock

Story by Jack Foley

FRESH from his No.1 singles success with All Summer Long and following the release of his Rock N Roll Jesus LP, Kid Rock has announced a date at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on November 30, 2008.

The multi-million selling rocker is a true rock n roll character. Never one to back away from a fight, he warred with his father before he left home at the age 15, and scrapped and scraped to make a living out of music before finally finding success at the age of 27.

He would go on to sell millions of records worldwide with an improbable mix of Southern rock, blues and country-tinged ballads, as well as hip-hop. And he would become an international celebrity after his on-again, off-again engagement and marriage to Pamela Anderson, and their eventual break-up.

But that success and notoriety didn’t really change Rock much, or push his music in any new directions. He has always played a bunch of instruments competently and written all his own music.

On his new top 10 album, Rock N Roll Jesus (Atlantic), he initiates a shotgun marriage between Warren Zevon’s Werewolves of London and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Sweet Home Alabama on the smash hit All Summer Long.

Fans can hear tracks from the new album, as well as past favourites, when Kid Rock hits the capital on November 30. Tickets go on sale on Friday, August 29.
