Lady Gaga to headline iTunes Festival opener in London
Story by Jack Foley
LADY Gaga is to headline next month’s iTunes Festival, she has confirmed via Twitter.
The singer will take to the stage at London’s Roundhouse on Sunday, September 1 – making her the first headline act of the festival.
And she has promised to devote an hour of new music to the show, which will form part of the promotion for her new album, ARTPOP, which is out in November.
Gaga revealed the news via Twitter to her Little Monsters on Tuesday night, when she wrote: “I’M HEADLINING ITUNES FESTIVAL ON SEPT 1 AT ROUNDHOUSE IN LONDON. ONE HOUR OF ALL NEW MUSIC. #UKMonstersGetReady.”
She also told Carson Daly on AMP Radio: “I’m headlining this year for the iTunes music festival but what I haven’t told you yet is that we’ll be doing an hour of all-new music. I worked so hard on this music and I’ve spent a year on it now and it’s going to be thrilling and exciting for me to be able to play it live for the first time.
“And the fans will fall in love with it through the live performance and hopefully love the record and want to buy the HQ versions of each song.”
Applause, the first single from the LP, is due out on August 19, while ARTPOP itself lands on November 11.
The line-up for this year’s iTunes Festival also includes Sigur Ros, Kings of Leon, Justin Timberlake, Hack Johnson and Thirty Seconds To Mars,
