Latitude Festival 2008: Franz Ferdinand, Interpol and Sigur Ros on bill

FRANZ Ferdinand, Sigur Ros and Interpol are among the acts confirmed to play this year’s Latitude Festival, taking place in Henham Park, Southwold, Suffolk, from July 17 to 20.

They will be joined by the likes of Elbow, Death Cab For Cutie, The Breeders and MIA for the showpiece event, which is shaping up to offer one of the musical line-ups of the summer season.

Nestled in the historic and beautiful surroundings of Henham Park Estate, The Latitude Festival is celebrating its third year in 2008 and offers a wealth of entertainment, whether its seeing a thrilling live band on one of the many Music Arenas, discovering new musical talent on the Lake Stage, or being engrossed in a brand new novel at the Literary Arena.

There’s also side-splitting laughter in the Comedy Arena, quirky freaky experiences in the Cabaret Arena, or the chance to be blown away by an exhilarating production at the Theatre Arena.

Latitude boasts four Music Arenas; The Obelisk, The Uncut, The Sunrise and The Lake Stage, spanning a wide range of genres hand-picked for the festival; bands and artists are chosen with the essence of Latitude in mind. More established bands play in harmony alongside the freshest new acts.

At this year’s event on the main Obelisk Arena, Latitude is delighted to announce another fantastic music line up that will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end!

Scottish art-rock heroes Franz Ferdinand will bring to Henham Park their catchy sing along hits in one hand and an array of exciting new material in the other.

They will be followed on the Saturday by the majestic Icelandic outfit Sigur Ros, who have stolen hearts all over the world with their eclectic mix of melodic, classical and experimental post-rock, as well as New York titans Interpol, who will close the Sunday night with their unique brand of soaring, inventive Indie rock.

Also confirmed to play Latitude are the charming Death Cab for Cutie, a Washington four piece famed for their heart-wrenching Indie pop; the superb Elbow who’s critically acclaimed fourth studio album came out on recently; alt-rockers The Breeders, who have had a career spanning 20 years and are back with an exhilarating new album in April, and Mathangi Arulpragasam – or M.I.A as she is better known – who fuses grime, hip-hop and electro pop.
