Lemonheads sign new record deal

Lemonheads

Story by Jack Foley

GREAT news for Lemonheads fans – Evan Dando’s band have reportedly signed a new record deal ten years after the release of their last studio album.

According to a report on US website, Billboard, the band have signed a deal with Vagrant Records and plan to release a new album later this year.

The new line-up is comprised of lead singer Dando, drummer Bill Stevenson and bassist Karl Alvarez.

Last year, the same new Lemonheads’ line-up played a handful of gigs, including two nights at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire where they performed their 1992 classic It’s A Shame About Ray in full as part of the Don’t Look Back season of gigs (which are being repeated in 2006).

They also wowed fans at the Benicassim Festival.

There is no word, as yet, on what the album will be called, or names of any singles but the news is sure to be greeted by all fans of the band, whose hits include Into Your Arms, Being Around and their seminal cover version of Mrs Robinson.
