Linnea Olsson announces March 2013 UK dates
Story by Jack Foley
SWEDISH fantasy-pop cellist Linnea Olsson will be playing her first headline tour of the UK and Ireland in March 2013.
Performing tracks from her spellbinding debut album Ah!, Linnea’s tour takes in seven dates, including a show at London’s Slaughtered Lamb on March 6.
Linnea has previously toured the UK supporting Ane Brun, as well as playing a member of her live band, but this is the first opportunity for audiences to witness a full headline performance from the prolific musician.
Having also worked with other Scandinavian luminaries Rebecca Karijord, Nina Kinert and Frida Hyvovnen, Linnea has now struck out on her own with Ah!, her debut collection of cello-pop standards.
As haunting and tender as they are powerful, the tracks were recorded in one short flood of creativity – the spontaneity and excitement of which will be perfectly reproduced in the live setting.
Fresh from a tour of North America performing as part of Peter Gabriel’s band, Linnea commented: “I’ve been over to the UK playing with Ane Brun a couple of times and it’s always been an adventure. It is extremely exciting to get to headline the shows this time. I am absolutely thrilled. Living the dream!”
