Live Earth London: Snow Patrol wow Wembley
Review by Jack Foley
THEY’VE rapidly emerged as one of Britain’s best bands, so it was little wonder that Snow Patrol provided one of the early highlights of London’s Live Earth concert.
In what’s proving a busy summer for them in the wake of recent gigs at The Isle of Wight Festival and The O2 Arena, not to mention T In The Park, Gary Lightbody and co delivered a memorable triple bill of their biggest hits.
They kicked off with recent single Open Your Eyes, followd it up with Shut Your Eyes and then finished off with their massive success Chasing Cars, which really got the crowds singing along.
Just prior to delivering Chasing Cars, Lightbody said that he was looking forward to see Spinal Tap perform and added: “That’s us! Short and sweet…”
But I’m sure, like me, fans were wishing for more. The structured songs, layered instrumentals and emotive lyrics were perfectly in keeping with the thought-provoking nature of the day.
