Live Lounge coup - Noel Gallagher plays front room gig

Noel Gallagher

Story by Jack Foley

OASIS singer-songwriter Noel Gallagher is to play a gig in the front room of a fan’s house as part of Radio 1’s very first Live Lounge tour.

One lucky listener will play host to the Oasis leader as part of a week-long series of gigs hosted by Radio 1’s Jo Whiley between Monday, November 27 and Friday, December 1.

Further live performances have been arranged with some of the leading bands and singers of the moment.

Lily Allen will kick things off by playing a houseboat on the River Thames on November 27, while The Kooks will perform from the lounge of one of their best friend’s on November 28.

The Ordinary Boys are to play in the house lead singer Preston shares with his wife, Chantelle on November 29 and Lostprophets will perform from singer Ian Watkins’ mum’s house on November 30.

Noel Gallagher will complete the line-up on December 1.

The mini-tour of Live Lounge dates looks set to continue the success of the concept, which has already given rise to a double album featuring well-known artists performing their greatest hits live, or attempting surprising cover versions.
