Lovvers - Think

Lovvers, Think

Review by Hedley Jackson

IndieLondon Rating: 1.5 out of 5

THINK is a very short, distorted group of punk songs from Lovvers. It’s rough and proud of it. This is punk rock in it’s purist form; scatty, energetic and aggressive noises immersed in a swamp of shouted, barely audible vocals.

The songs have nice riffs and jump from song to song in only a couple of minutes, providing a bit of a chaotic ride through a sea of overdrive. But the boundless energy in the brief songs is a lonely highlight as the band seem to run out of ideas.

Songs can start well, like Talk Cheap, but a moment later they’re finished, leaving you feeling let down. Punk is a difficult genre in which to create songs that appeal to many and give a lasting impression but it is possible.

Lovvers have a very raw vibe and I’m sure that with their apparent enthusiasm they will create a great live sound.

Think is a taster of Lovvers’ sound that fails to entice and excite. It does have some positive elements, such as the flashes of musical skill or the raw energy they exude, but overall the EP is very disappointing.

Download Picks: Human Hair, Teenage Shutdown, Talk Cheap.
