Lynyrd Skynyrd announce UK tour (2009)

ONE of the greatest American Southern rock band’s, Lynyrd Skynyrd, have announced a new UK tour in May 2009, their first UK shows for six years.

The band will play a total of four dates next May (2009), kicking off in Glasgow on May 27 and concluding at London’s Brixton Academy on May 31.

Ranked as one of the best-selling artists of all time by the Recording Industry Association of America and named one of the greatest artists of all time by Rolling Stone magazine, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members Lynyrd Skynyrd are still going strong with over 26 million CD’s sold to date, and over 80 live performances annually.

The tour dates are (all May 2009):

27 – Glasgow Clyde Auditorium
28 – Birmingham NIA AcademyY
30 – Manchester Apollo
31 – London Brixton Academy

Tickets go on general sale from 9am on Friday, November 28, 2008 and are all subject to booking fee. They cost £38.50 –(regional) and £39.50 (London).

Lynyrd Skynyrd is currently writing the follow-up to their 2003 release Vicious Cycle that spawned the hit single, Red White and Blue.

The band’s epic hits include Freebird – complete with one of the most famous guitar solo’s in history – and the Southern anthem Sweet Home Alabama, recently featured on Kid Rock’s summer smash All Summer Long.

Sweet Home Alabama has passed the 1,000,000 mark in downloaded master ringtones.
