Maps to support Goldfrapp and showcase new material

James Chapman, aka Maps

Story by Jack Foley

MAPS has been unveiled as the support act for Goldfrapp’s show at Royal Festival Hall on Friday, April 18.

The support slot follows a couple of live shows in Ireland on April 12 and 13 where Maps – aka James Chapman – and his live band are set to air new material from Maps’ forthcoming second album.

It is anticipated that Chapman may also use the Goldfrapp support slot to showcase new material for the first time in London.

James is regularly blogging about his progress on the follow-up to 2007’s Mercury-nominated We Can Create over on www.mapsmusic.com

According to James, eight new songs have been finished so far, and you can hear a couple of previews of brand new tracks Love Will Come and Paper Cuts on James’ video diary through the front page of his site.

Maps dates in April (2008):

12 – Dublin Bud Rising at The Button Factory (formerly the Temple Bar Music Centre)
13 – Belfast Spring and Airbrake
18 – London Royal Festival Hall with Goldfrapp
30 – London The Social (Airiel + Autumn Chorus + Ulrich Schnauss DJ set + Maps DJ set)
