Mercury Rev announce UK tour (2008)

Mercury Rev

Story by Jack Foley

FOLLOWING the release of their new opus, Snowflake Midnight, on V2/Cooperative Music on September 29, 2008, Mercury Rev will be embarking on an extensive UK tour in November.

As well as a couple of festival appearances, the band will be playing nine venues across the country, including a night at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire in November.

The tour dates (including festival appearances) are as follows:

August
29 – Hydro Connect Festival, Inverary Scotland

September
13 – End of the Road Festival, Dorset

November:
4 – Mandela Hall, Belfast
5 – Academy, Manchester
6 – Academy, Leeds
7 – Academy, Birmingham
9 – Academy, Newcastle
11 – Corn Exchange, Brighton
12 – Academy, Bristol
13 – Shepherd’s Bush Empire, London
14 – Academy, Oxford

Mercury Rev’s Snowflake Midnight promises to deliver fans a set of nine luminous and astonishing new songs, that are both epic and lush.

Snowflake Midnight, given it’s inject of both vintage and present-day electronics, is perhaps less a rebirth than a reboot; but it sounds like a brand new Mercury Rev.
