Military Wives choirs announce UK-wide concert tour (2020)

Military Wives

Story by Jack Foley

THE true story of the international phenomenon, the Military Wives Choirs, provides the inspiration for a new film on release in cinemas now.

This follows an appearance by the real-life Military Wives, who performed on BBC’s The One Show on Wednesday, March 4, singing out the show following interviews from the film’s stars Kristen Scott-Thomas and Sharon Horgan.

To coincide with the release, Military Wives Choirs have announced that they will be taking to the road with a widely anticipated eight date concert series. The choirs will be visiting cities up and down the country, including Birmingham, York, Nottingham, London, Inverness, Ipswich, Bournemouth and Edinburgh.

A spokesperson for the Military Wives Choirs said: “Bringing together choirs from across our network to perform together is a perfect example of how our organisation lives our ethos of ‘sing, share and support’. Our network is geographically diverse, and we’re thrilled to be performing across the UK in some wonderful venues to celebrate both our charity and the launch of this exciting film and soundtrack.”

Directed by Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty), the all-star cast feature film Military Wives is described as the “inspirational story of friendship, love and support from the home front”, based on the real stories of a group of women who find themselves at the centre of a media sensation – and global singing movement.

The soundtrack features choral favourites from the real-life Military Wives Choirs and new tracks by the on-screen cast, celebrating the shared experiences of the women whose lives were changed forever by conflict.

General ticket sale for regional concert dates will be from 10am on Wednesday, March 11.

The tour dates are (all October 2020)

1 – Birmingham Town Hall
2 – York Barbican
3 – Nottingham Albert Hall
4 – London Cadogan Hall
6 – Inverness Eden Court Theatre
8 – Ipswich Corn Exchange
