Morrissey announces Roundhouse residency (2008)

Story by Jack Foley

FOLLOWING on from his just completed US tour, which included historic residencies in Los Angeles and New York, Morrissey has decided to start 2008 with a bang.

The singer will play six shows at London’s Roundhouse, the legendary venue where both The Ramones and Patti Smith made their English debuts.

These will be Morrissey’s first UK dates since his sold out tours of 2006 – and have not yet been accompanied by any further venues in the UK.

The dates are January 21, 22, 23, 25, 26 and 27, 2008, and tickets go on sale on Friday, November 23, at 9am.

He will also play Doncaster Dome on January 30 and Sunderland Empire on February 1.

In what looks set to be a busy year for the talented singer-songwriter, a new album is rumoured for release in September.

Much of the material has already been written, according to the BBC, and a new deal has tentatively been put in place with Warner Music after his deal with Sanctuary Records came to an end.
