Morrissey cancels remaining Brixton gigs

Story by Jack Foley

MORRISSEY has cancelled his remaining two Brixton gigs, the latest in a string of dates scrapped due to ill health.

Concert organisers confirmed that the former Smiths frontman’s remaining London dates at Brixton Academy – scheduled for Friday (May 29) and Saturday (May 30) would not now go ahead.

The 50-year-old singer has been advised by doctors not to sing “to ensure a complete recuperation”. It brings the total number of called off gigs to seven.

Event organisers apologised to fans and advised them to hang on to their tickets for further announcements.

The latest cancellations follow missed gigs in Salisbury, Mile End, east London and another date at Brixton earlier this week, but tour organisers are reportedly working to reschedule the cancelled dates.
