Muse and Major Lazer to play Reading and Leeds Festival 2017

Story by Jack Foley

MUSE have been announced as the first headliners for next year’s Reading and Leeds Festival (2017).

The band will top the bill for the third time at the two festivals following previous headline performances in 2011 and 2006.

The announcement comes at the end of a year in which Muse also made it a hat-trick of Glastonbury headline slots.

The band, fronted by Matt Bellamy, will be joined by Bastille, Major Lazer, While She Sleeps and Architects at the annual event, which takes place between August 25 and 27 across the two venues.

Muse said they were “very excited” to be playing the two festivals again.

While a festival organiser added: “I’m thrilled to be able to announce Muse as the first headliner for Reading and Leeds 2017. Their incredible live show promises to be an unforgettable performance – we have so much more to announce and I can’t wait to reveal the rest of the line up.”

US hip-hop artist Danny Brown, whose fourth album came out earlier this year, is another name to appear on the line-up, as are At The Drive-In, Canadian breakout star Tory Lanez, English DJ Andy C, US pop rockers Against The Current and British indie stars Glass Animals.

More acts will be announced soon.
