Noah & The Whale announce new EP and 2009 dates

Noah & The Whale

Story by Jack Foley

NOAH & The Whale have announced details of a new UK tour next March as well as a new EP before Christmas.

Tour-wise, the band will play 10 dates in total, including a night at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire. Prior to that, and to cap a memorable year, they will release new EP The A Sides on December 22.

The A Sides is the product of left-over studio time from recording Noah and the Whale B-sides. It will be a limited pressing of 2500 12” EPs.

Recorded over two nights during studio downtime, the tracklisting for the release will be: If My Album Sold A Million; Hold My Hand As I’m Lowered; Don’t Look Back (a Smokey Robinson cover); Waster; Fiddle’s Cannon; Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Your Grievances (a Daniel Johnston cover), and Setting Sun.

Inspired by the success of their visit to grandfather Cyril’s retirement home (Noah and the Whale live from Gretton Court) and the seasonal spirit, the band have decided that all profits from the release and from a second live show on the day of the EP’s release will go to the charity Age Concern.

To this end, The A Sides – their alter-ego side-project – will play a special show at London’s The Lexington on December 22.
